Unlike classical therapy (psychoanalysis), brief therapy is solution-focused: it aims to solve the problem or reach a goal. The focus is on change through action and results. Classical therapy focuses on analysing behaviour, understanding its source or identifying the underlying psychological processes. Yet very often, we do not know why or how we got there!
There are different types of brief therapy, including EMDR, RITMO, hypnosis, NLP, EFT, etc.
Unlike classical therapy, brief therapies are shorter. Allow a maximum of 6 to 24 months for optimal follow-up in brief therapy, compared with more than 3 years in classical therapy. EMDR or RITMO give favourable results (not predictable) within a few sessions.
